ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Humanitas International Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology is designed for dermatologists seeking to deepen their knowledge through international experience in this promising field. The scholarship combines academic excellence, practical in-person experience, and access to an innovative healthcare environment.

This fellowship program is led by the renowned dermatologists. They developed this program to provide students with scientific, evidence-based special knowledge and practical skills in tumor diagnostics and skin cancer patient management, enhancing their expertise, career prospects, and clinical outcomes.

The program includes highly qualified and well-known faculty from Humanitas Research Hospital and prestigious experts throughout Italy and the European Union (EU).

Embracing hybrid teaching offers a dynamic approach to learning, where students engage with theoretical lessons online and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience in person. This combination not only enhances understanding but also prepares students to excel in real-world scenarios. A period of at least one month is required for practical in-person experience.

Objectives

GENERAL
The Humanitas Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver the best patient care and ensure you stay updated with the latest developments in this constantly evolving field. The purpose of the scholarship is to bring the attendees into an international learning environment with the involvement of tutors and professors from Italy and other European countries.

SPECIFICS
– Prepare and update professionals to work efficiently in the dermatology oncology sector, whether in public or private services, including outpatient clinics or hospitals.
– Deepen your studies on prevention, diagnosis, staging, surgical treatments, systemic treatments, and other non-surgical treatment modalities in dermatology. And acquire knowledge about systemic therapies’ side effects for effective management.
– Enhance confidence in acquired clinical skills to improve decision-making abilities and encourage participation in multidisciplinary problem-solving (clinical oncology, surgical oncology, radiotherapy, and pathology).
– Employ critical thinking skills to strengthen your understanding and reflection on innovations within the field and propose a research project grounded in the knowledge you have acquired.

TARGET GROUP
The Humanitas Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology is tailored for individuals who hold a Dermatology Board Certificate, residents in a Dermatology Residency program, and physicians with certified experience in dermatology oncology.

KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT
Upon completion of the Humanitas Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology, it is anticipated that participants will have achieved the following acknowledgment:
– Epidemiology and Prevention of Skin Cancer (epidemiology of skin cancer and outlines effective prevention strategies).
– Diagnosis of Skin Cancer (diagnosis of skin cancer through advanced imaging techniques, including dermoscopy, total body mapping, digital dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy, and line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT)).
– Diagnosis of Mucosal Lesions (using imaging techniques such as fluorescent dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy).
– Management and Follow-Up for Skin Cancer Patients (management and follow-up care for patients diagnosed with various types of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), cutaneous melanoma, and rare skin tumors. It also addresses the management and follow-up of patients with cutaneous lymphoma).
– Treatment Options for Skin Lesions (surgical and non-surgical treatments for pre-malignant and malignant skin lesions).
– Oncogenetics (Specific genes and syndromes, genetic testing, and follow-up).

 ACADEMIC COURSES
The Humanitas Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology offers two distinct programs: the Basic Academic Scholarship (3-month fellowship) and the Advanced Academic Scholarship (6-month fellowship).

Basic Academic Scholarship (3-month)
This format includes one month of in-person training and three months of online content. There is a possibility of considering an in-person stay for a period of 2 to 3 months. This modality requires a Dermatology Board Certificate, a Dermatology Residency program diploma, or physicians with certified experience in dermatology oncology.

Advanced Academic Scholarship (6-months)
This program consists of two to six months of in-person training, three months of online content, and the completion of a final investigative research project. An in-person stay for less than two months may be considered. Only dermatologists holding board certification in dermatology are eligible for it.

CERTIFICATES
After successfully finishing the 3-month or 6-month fellowship, the student will be awarded a Basic Academic Scholarship or Advanced Academic Scholarship certificate, respectively, issued by Humanitas Research Hospital and University, Rozzano, Milan, Italy, and signed by the leadership and the coordinator.

All courses demand a minimum attendance of 80% for approval.

The Humanitas Scholarship in Dermatology Oncology is tailored for individuals who hold a Dermatology Board Certificate, residents in a Dermatology Residency program, and physicians with certified experience in dermatology oncology.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be admitted, candidates must submit:
– A copy of their medical degree
– A letter confirming current enrollment in a dermatology residency program, or a dermatology board certification or certified experience in dermatology oncology
– A short curriculum vitae (not more than two pages)
– A reference letter
– A letter explaining their motivation for this course

The candidates will be evaluated by the dermatology board of the Humanitas Dermatology Oncology. Once participation is confirmed, cancellations are not permitted under any circumstances, including illness, Visa rejection, or unforeseen events.

LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
The in-person activities can be offered in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, while the online presentations will be available only in English.
